Ceramic Tiles

The next Public Workshop

is on Wednesday 21st August 11am-1pm and 2-4pm

At Hunstanton Town Hall Hub

This project was started in 2012 to celebrate the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee. Local school children and visitors designed tiles to go up on the sea wall and sign their names to the artwork. Two colourful panels each containing 90 tiles were completed.

In 2015 we followed with the theme Seaside Memories. Sea Creatures followed in 2018 and visitors and residents and Smithdon Secondary School took part. Three more beautiful panels were completed and these were installed in 2019 with the help of Hunstanton's Men Shed Community Group.

To celebrate the Queens Platinum Jubilee, local artist Kate Dunbar was asked to complete the project. It was her idea from the start. Two more panels were needed, and this time the theme was “Earthshot SOS” or Save Our Species dealing with endangered Norfolk plants and animals. This time it was schools, the public and HTC's Friends Group who provided the artists.

Please take time to visit and admire the wall. You will find it to the left of the road leading down to the North promenade near the Sailing Club.
